I turn the page to a new chapter
Round the corner are new words to see
They aren't what I consume
In stead, they consume me
Through my eyes, I emerge
To merge with the black of the ink
Traversing each letter, word
A roller coaster ride in a blink
Desolate deserts, luscious valleys
City streets with a NO ENTRY sign
Through myriad landscapes that greet
Are they the writer's? Are they mine?
Words, like keys to secret locks
Some come easy, some hard to turn
Doors inside doors and more
An ordained journey without return
As long as, in this world of words
I hear the rustle of a single leaf
Outside, in the worldly world
I remain oblivious to joy and grief
And to objects and people that move
To the setting and rising sun's tricks
To rains, sprouts, blooms and withers
To the lonely clock's fervent ticks
