It seems to me that I'm ready now
To leave behind my days of luster
Of clinging and swaying carefree
Now I'm all set to turn ochre
I've been awash with light sometimes
Sometimes with hues of dawn and dusk
I've glistened in dancing moonbeams
I've melted into night's consuming black
Now I await this grip to slack
Reminiscing every joy and duress
Donning bit by bit a mellow yellow
Longing for breeze's tender caress
To slide me off my transitory perch
My silhouette against the bright sky
Suspended, for a brief moment
As if I stop to say my goodbye
Fallen and waiting to be crisped by sun
Surrender to wind's vagaries I must
Until I find eternal fulfillment
When tired feet crackle me to dust
